Getting to the BVI

The BVI are located in the northeastern Caribbean bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Caribbean Sea to the south. We are roughly 60 miles due east of Puerto Rico and right next door the the US Virgin Islands. There are a few different ways to reach Tortola. One option is to fly into the Beef Island Airport on Tortola. Since our runway is a little short to accommodate large planes, one must fly in via San Juan, Puerto Rico. All the major airlines service San Juan including both Jet Blue and Spirit. You then hop a 40 minute commuter flight on either Cape Air, or Seaborn airlines.

Another option that you may find more economical depending on where you are flying from is to fly into St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands) and take a ferry from downtown Charlotte Amalie to West End, Tortola.Airlines that fly into St. Thomas are American, Continental, Delta, Jet Blue, Spirit and US Airways. Spirit and Jet Blue frequently have some good sales with cheap fares to both San Juan and St. Thomas from their hub cities. Sign up to get their weekly email announcements of fare sales. The ferry ride is 45 minutes, cost is $55.00 round trip. Currently the last ferry from St. Thomas leaves @ 4:45 pm or thereabouts. Do be advised that the ferries often run on what we call "island time" which kind of equates to 'some time' or 'any time' ..Not to worry, you WILL arrive however!
